A Bit O'Green

I panicked a bit last night after putting the babes down for bedtime, I walked out of their room and the, "oh my God tomorrow is Friday and I have not done one shop update yet this week!"  I don't even know how that happened when I purposely stopped working in the daytime not only to be focused more on my children but because I could get work done quicker without interruption in the evenings. Need to re-evaluate, but seriously not going to sweat it

So here is Thursday's update which is technically Monday's.  Certainly containing older pieces that I normally would hoard, but the need for a bit o' green is calling especially with the height of my buying season fast approaching.

Name Dropping

 

So since Etsy changed their default searches to be based more on relevancy it officially became the end of an era and death to the art and poetry of title writing for listings and potentially disappearing into an ocean of "1950s dresses" in the searches.  So I decided the best way battle shop anonymity and title writing ennui was to throw a few designer names out there in the updates, because in my opinion Diane Von Furstenberg makes a dress pretty relevant.

In acknowledgement of finally getting photoshop installed in my new piece of poo computer I scraped together a mish mash of pieces that really wanted to be added to the shop today.  My favorites having to be the "Modern Geisha" top and shrug, the top courtesy of a recent wardrobe downsize.

Self Deprecating Shop Update Post

Seriously working on some proper posts for this place, so a shop update will have to do for now.  Don't normally do posts like this but I figure some content is better than none at all. Like a sign of life...so please take my ass out of the crematorio yo.

Picture quality isn't so great with this batch, my apologies. I find squinting or a couple of glasses of wine will fix the problem.  You can shop until your hearts content HERE!  Uninhibited drunken binge purchasing welcomed as always.

Meditative Vintage

Yes I did get the memo about color and pattern being hot for Spring/Summer but really I wanted to put the shop into a meditative state first.... breathe it in deeply....relaxing isn't it?  Besides for a gal that wears a lot of black, creams and taupe are pretty bold colors for me...I mean to actually reflect light this summer instead of absorb it?  It's kind of a nutty concept to me.

The Bears and the Bees

A hive of bees and a sleuth of bears hungry for honey...doesn't look as if it's going to end very well for the bears. The 1970s came out with some great graphic sweaters and I've had the good fortune of finding quite a bit of them lately.  This particular one coming to the shop soon.

Last Minute Gift Idea: The Anthropologie Necklace

Anthropologie , the store, the myth, the legend. Seeing how everyone wants what they are selling and with almost everything vintage inspired, but not everyone able to afford it sure makes it easier for me to make a living as most Etsy vintage dealers and  artisans are already selling what they have at a fraction of the cost.

This post I initially intended as a rant, demanding an "anthro-apology" for insulting my good sense by trying to hock THIS necklace onto people for a crazy amount of money, you clicked the link, you saw the price right? In case you forgot your glasses it's $168!!!  If it hasn't occured to you yet what the big deal is, it's because it's a paperclip necklace wrapped in electrical tape PEOPLE!  I'll quote what one poor fool wrote in the review,"Not sure if it was worth the price but it is an interesting necklace." Well duh.

But since Anthropologie is selling something like this it means you can totally get away with giving this as a Christmas gifts to all your Anthropologie loving friends. But since the original version is $168 we will just be making our own. All you need is:

1. common sense
2. electrical tape, any color, preferably scotch brand.
3. paperclips
4. a clasp of some sort, you can also use ribbon

One episode of Martha and 75 cents worth of materials later this is what ended up with:

Not too shabby, even though when it comes down to it, it is still a paperclip necklace. At least this version won't give you sticker shock and for the cost you could afford to give one to all your friends. And since you will have saved yourself a bundle for your savviness do not forget to reward yourselves by buying yourself something pretty from  here ;)







Irma

I did try to make a nice pretty and tidy Polyvore collage of all my lovely Irma finds but that meant undoing a lot of my firewall and browser settings and so I mini panicked as the image of precious life minutes going down the drain for the sake of installing Polyvore flashed through my mind.....yeah, no.

For Halloween I plan to be Irma la Douce, it's one of my favorite movies.  I'll even have a little stuffed white dog to stick in  my purse. What's great is I already had all the pieces when I had my costume epiphany, no constructing of anything required just need to do hair and make-up.  It's the only way I'll even bother getting dressed up for Halloween because I generally have three other costumes that need making in the house, which case in point I still have yet to start .

Matchmaking

I love these Hermes shoes with this dress. The dress is 1950s, but has very 1920s feel and the shoes are fabulous enough to not dress it down as a different oxford might. Alas neither fit and they both are now available in the store and I can only wish that they get "adopted" together.
